Two One-Day Rail Trips – Standish to Grayling

The Timberliner is offering an exciting and nostalgic weekend of passenger
railroading with a pair of excursions between Standish and Grayling.

These excursions will run on Saturday and Sunday, October 2 & 3, 2010 and will
depart from the recently restored Michigan Central Depot in Standish, MI.  Your
route will be the historic former Michigan Central line to Mackinaw City, now
operated by Lake State Railway Company.

At Grayling, you’ll have time to enjoy lunch at any of several restaurants waiting to
serve you and stroll the downtown area with its many attractions, including the
Crawford County Historical Museum (in the former MC depot), shopping and all
the charms of small-town hospitality. A Train show, Swap & Display is also being
hosted by The Crawford County Historical Society. Enjoy Harvestfest along
Michigan Avenue in Grayling.  Free shuttle buses will be available.

This special excursion train will depart each day from Standish at 9:30am. The
Depot is located at 107 N. Main St., Standish, MI. Boarding will begin at 9:00am.
Standish will also be hosting their annual Depot Days, with many of the days’
entertainment taking place on the Depot grounds.  Enjoy family entertainment,
craft and business vendors, live entertainment and a carnival of old fashioned
amusements for your enjoyment.  Tours of the standing train car exhibits include a
1929 restored caboose and 2 English passenger cars that are reminiscent of the
Hogwarts train in The Harry Potter series.  Numerous picture opportunities await
you this weekend at the annual festival.
