2nd Locomotive Training

Saturday, October 16, 2010
10 am - 5pm
Come join us for an educational experience learning
on the BMCX #117 Brookville locomotive.

LIMITED TO EIGHT STUDENTS

Classroom Instruction on the operation of the following items:
•        engine, drive train, and the two transmissions
•        the air brake system used on the locomotive
•        cab controls for the starting and stopping of the engine
•        the air brake control stand
•        track sander system
•        hand brake
•        couplers

After lunch, we will have a half-hour hands-on training on the
locomotive itself.  We’ll check the fluids including diesel fuel,
engine oil and transmission fluid.  We’ll look under the locomotive
to see where the air brake reservoirs are, and drain the excess
water from the system.  The Air Brake pump and pressure
regulator will be checked.  You will be shown how the start and
stop the engine, where and how to apply the hand brake, where
the Air Brake control stand is, and the throttle.

Each class participant will be required to correctly start, and stop
the engine, and move the locomotive both forward and backward
on the track outside the building.  You will be doing routine track
work with the locomotive the rest of day.
